Morrissey is one of the 126 singers shortlisted in the poll for the National Public Radio series 50 Great Voices.
According to the description on the NPR website, the series will be an "exploration of 50 great voices in recorded history." NPR received thousands of nominations from the public and compiled the shortlist with the help of a panel of experts.
Voting is now open for the 50 great voices to be highlighted in the series.

Morrissey is one of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time honored by Rolling Stone in a list published this week.
The list was compiled from ballots cast by a panel of 179 music experts who were asked to name their 20 favorite vocalists.

Morrissey is one of the Top 100 Living Geniuses listed in the Synectics Survey of Contemporary Genius 2007, a report published this week by a global consulting firm.
According to the report, the firm conducted a survey of 4,000 people in the United Kingdom, asking them to nominate up to 10 living people whom they considered to qualify as geniuses. Drawing upon the survey results, a panel of six consultants compiled the report's list of the top 100 geniuses alive in the world today.
The report describes five factors as defining characteristics of genius: paradigm shifting, popular acclaim, intellectual power, achievement, and cultural importance.

All 50 of the sleeves in the Best Art Vinyl of 2006 list are now on show at the Art Vinyl Gallery in Broadway Market in London. The Top 10 will also be on show at Voxpop Music in Manchester, and at the Virgin Megastore in Oxford Street in London.

The BBC Culture Show's Living Icons poll results have been posted at www.bbc.co.uk/arts/livingicons/vote/.
Morrissey is one of the Top 2 Living Icons in the poll results. He is listed at #2, after broadcaster and naturalist David Attenborough. Morrissey holds the highest place among artists in the list, ahead of closest contenders Paul McCartney and David Bowie.
Danny Robins campaigns for Morrissey for the BBC Culture Show's Living Icons poll

Television presenter and comedian Danny Robins is campaigning for Morrissey for the BBC Culture Show's Living Icons poll.
Robins traveled to Newcastle with a BBC film crew on Monday the 4th of December - the day of Morrissey's concert in that city, and the release date of the new single "I Just Want To See The Boy Happy."
During his visit to Newcastle, Robins spoke with Morrissey, and urged people to vote for Morrissey in the Living Icons poll.
Footage from the day's filming will be broadcast on The Culture Show on Saturday the 9th of December on BBC Two at 7:30 p.m.
